Rayquaza does not serve the Subspace Army. It is a territorial legendary Pokémon that erupts from the Lake when Fox's Arwing passes overhead, destroying the ship and forcing Fox to fight for survival alongside Diddy Kong. It attacks with energy beams, sweeping tail strikes, and body slams from above. The battle against Rayquaza is chaotic and vertical — it flies, dives, and loops around the arena while the fighters try to land hits on a target that never stops moving. Its defeat is a survival achievement rather than a strategic victory.
