A remote Japanese mountain dojo where Ryu and Ken trained under Master Gouken, now standing silent and damaged — a place of formative memory that casts a long shadow over every ansatsuken practitioner.
The dojo is not abandoned so much as waiting. After Akuma's assault left Gouken apparently dead and the dojo damaged, it became a kind of pilgrimage site — not officially, but in the way places associated with violence and loss become charged with meaning. Ryu and Ken both return here in their minds if not always physically. It is the origin point of their style, their brotherhood, their understanding of what martial arts is supposed to be. Akuma visits occasionally, though he would deny anything as sentimental as nostalgia; he simply has unfinished business with the memory of his brother's choices.
A wooden structure built into a mountainside accessible only by a narrow path, surrounded by pine forest and silence. Practice posts stand in the training yard. The interior is sparse: tatami mats, weapon racks, a meditation alcove. There are scorch marks on one wall that no one has painted over.
