Psycho Drive

Item from Street Fighter Alpha by Capcom

Shadaloo's most dangerous technological achievement — a device that amplifies and stores Psycho Power on a massive scale, capable of being used as a mind-control broadcast system or a weapon of mass destruction.

The Psycho Drive is the MacGuffin of the Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 storylines — the device that explains why Shadaloo has moved from conventional crime into something approaching supervillainy. By concentrating and amplifying Bison's Psycho Power through a technological matrix, it theoretically allows him to extend his mind control capabilities far beyond his own body's limits. Multiple characters have different relationships to it: Birdie wants it as leverage. Charlie wants to destroy it. Bison wants to activate it at planetary scale. Rose knows that stopping it requires a sacrifice. The Psycho Drive's destruction — achieved through Charlie's sacrifice in the Alpha 3 endgame — is one of the defining moments of the Alpha era, setting in motion the chain of events that produces the Street Fighter II timeline.

Appearance

A cathedral-sized machine deep within Shadaloo headquarters: columns of crackling violet energy contained within reinforced pylons, a central chamber that pulses with collected Psycho Power, and control interfaces that require specific biometric authorization to operate. The air near it smells like ozone and fear.
