Item from Street Fighter Alpha by Capcom
Ryu's white karate gi — worn, torn at the hems, and permanently marked by years of travel and ten thousand fights — the single material possession he has chosen to carry through every journey.
Ryu owns almost nothing deliberately, but the gi is the exception — not because he is attached to the material, but because wearing it is an act of continuation. It is the uniform of Gouken's school, and wearing it means he is still that school's student regardless of what his master's fate might be. It is a form of faith made visible. In story terms the gi functions as a signal: fighters who know the ansatsuken tradition recognize it immediately. Shadaloo intelligence briefings have a photograph of it in their Ryu file. Sakura copied the style as faithfully as she could when she began practicing.
A white karate gi in a style specific to Gouken's ansatsuken school — heavier canvas than sport karate uniforms, cut to allow full kicks, marked with the stains and repairs of a fighter who sleeps outdoors and washes it in rivers. The red bandana tied to his head matches his handwraps. Both are frayed at the edges.
