The self-proclaimed founder of the Saikyo-ryu ('Strongest Style') school of martial arts, a man of boundless enthusiasm and limited talent who is the Alpha series' comic relief — though he does occasionally win a fight.

What They Know

• Invented Saikyo-ryu after being expelled from Gouken's dojo for training with intent to kill (seeking revenge on Sagat for his father's death).
• His Gadouken projectile barely travels the width of a doorway before dissipating.
• Has more taunt moves than any other fighter in the Alpha series — taunting mid-combo is his signature.
• Somehow has students, including Sakura (briefly) and Blanka.
• His father Go Hibiki was killed by Sagat in a street fight; Dan's entire martial arts career is upstream of this trauma.
• Despite being played for comedy, Dan has genuine courage and occasionally pulls out upset victories through sheer stubbornness.
