Character from Stranger Things by The Duffer Brothers
The ultimate villain — born Henry Creel, designated Subject 001 at Hawkins Lab, banished to the Upside Down by Eleven where he became a psychic predator who feeds on trauma and reshapes dimensions.
Henry Creel was born wrong — or born ahead of the world's ability to understand him. As a child in 1950s Hawkins, he discovered he could reach into the minds of living things and reshape reality with his thoughts. He started with animals. He moved to his family. He killed his mother and sister, framed his father, and was collected by Dr. Brenner, who saw not a monster but a weapon. As Subject 001, he was suppressed with the Soteria implant and put to work as an orderly in Hawkins Lab, where he spent years quietly manipulating the other test subjects. He found Eleven — the most powerful — and convinced her to remove his implant. Free, he massacred every child and researcher in the lab. Eleven, in her terror and rage, banished him to the Upside Down. There, he didn't die. He became. He reshaped the Upside Down's primordial chaos into a weapon, created the Mind Flayer as his proxy, and built a hive mind from the dimension's creatures. He became Vecna — a name he would have appreciated, the D&D villain who cheats death. He kills by invading his victims' minds through their deepest wounds — guilt, grief, shame, self-hatred — pulling them into his psychic mindscape and snapping their bones while their consciousness drowns in their own worst memories. He is patient, methodical, and driven by a philosophy that humanity is a disease and he is the cure. Four kills open four gates. Four gates tear Hawkins apart. His endgame is the merger of the Upside Down and the real world, and he has been working toward it since before Eleven was born.
In his Upside Down form, Vecna is a towering nightmare of desiccated flesh and exposed sinew. His skin is a mottled gray-brown, cracked and vine-like, as if the dimension itself has grown into him. His left hand is a massive, gnarled claw. Tendrils and roots wrap around his body like living armor. His face retains just enough humanity to be recognizable — sunken eyes that glow with malevolent intelligence, a lipless mouth, the suggestion of the handsome orderly he once was now twisted into something ancient and alien. Bioluminescent particles drift around him. In his human form as the Hawkins Lab orderly, he was tall, blond, clean-cut, and disarmingly kind — the perfect mask for the predator beneath.
