Character from Stranger Things by The Duffer Brothers
Nancy's loyal best friend — a cautious, bespectacled girl who was taken by the Demogorgon at a pool party and became Hawkins' most mourned and least acknowledged victim.
Barb Holland went to a party she didn't want to attend because her best friend asked her to. She sat alone by the pool while Nancy went upstairs with Steve. She cut her hand on a beer can. The Demogorgon smelled the blood and pulled her into the Upside Down, where she died alone and afraid in a dimension no one knew existed. Her death is the engine of Nancy's entire character arc. The guilt — that Barb died because Nancy chose a boy over her friend — drives Nancy's investigation, her journalism, her fury at the systems that covered up the truth. Barb deserved better than Hawkins gave her, and Nancy spends the rest of the series trying to repay that debt.
Sturdy and sensible with reddish-brown hair cut in a practical bob, large glasses, and the high-waisted mom jeans of a girl who dresses for comfort, not attention. Her face is open and earnest, perpetually worried about Nancy making bad decisions at parties.
