Ancient transportation platforms built by the Knights Radiant — ten paired gateways connecting major cities to Urithiru, requiring a Radiant with a living Shardblade to activate.
The Oathgates are Roshar's continental transportation network. Built during the era of the Knights Radiant, each gate connects a major city to Urithiru — step onto the platform, activate it with a living Shardblade, and you're instantaneously transported to the tower city. The system made Urithiru the hub of a civilization-spanning infrastructure. Securing the Oathgates became a primary strategic objective for the coalition. Each gate requires a Radiant to operate, and several gates were corrupted or controlled by enemy forces. The Kholinar gate was compromised by an Unmade. The Thaylen gate was contested during the Battle of Thaylen Field. Control of the Oathgate network effectively determines who controls Roshar's logistics.
Massive circular stone platforms, each hundreds of feet across, set into the ground at the heart of ten cities. Intricate patterns and glyphs are carved into the stone. When activated, the platform glows with Stormlight and everything on it is swapped instantaneously with the corresponding platform in Urithiru.
