Honorblades

Item from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

The original Surgebinding weapons of the ten Heralds — they grant Radiant powers without a Nahel bond but consume Stormlight at a ruinous rate.

The Honorblades were gifts from Honor to his ten Heralds, granting each a pair of Surges — Jezrien's grants Adhesion and Gravitation (Windrunner powers), Nale's grants Division and Transportation. Unlike Radiant bonds, Honorblades require no oaths and no spren partner. The trade-off is efficiency: an Honorblade user burns through Stormlight at ten times the rate of a true Radiant. The Heralds abandoned their Blades at Aharietiam, ending the Oathpact. The Shin recovered and guarded them for millennia. Szeth carried Jezrien's Honorblade as the Assassin in White before it was taken by the Fused. Several Honorblades are now unaccounted for, scattered by the chaos of the True Desolation.

Appearance

Similar to Shardblades but subtly different — each Honorblade has a distinctive design matching its Herald. They glow with a more intense inner light than dead Shardblades. When planted in stone, they stand perfectly upright. Ten total, each associated with a Radiant order and its two Surges.

Also known as: Honorblade, Honorblades, Herald's Blade
