Venli

Character from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

A Singer Willshaper who summoned the Everstorm to save her people and doomed them instead — now seeking redemption by protecting the few listeners who remain free.

Venli speaks to the rhythms — Anxiety, Craving, Resolve — her emotions literally audible to other Singers as harmonic undertones in her voice. She was ambitious and jealous of her sister Eshonai's fame, and that jealousy drove her to work with Ulim to discover stormform, inadvertently enslaving her people to Odium. She carries this guilt like a physical weight, and her redemption arc is driven by genuine remorse rather than convenience. She is politically shrewd, a natural diplomat who uses envoyform's linguistic gifts to navigate between Odium's forces and the underground resistance of free listeners. Her bond with Timbre — a lightspren who chose to bond a Singer against all precedent — represents a bridge between two peoples who have never trusted each other.

Appearance

Singer woman with marbled red and black skin patterns (mateform coloring varies). Carapace ridges along her brow and forearms. Moves with the rhythmic grace inherent to Singers, her emotions audible in the rhythms she attunes. Wears workform or envoyform depending on need. Timbre pulses as a small point of light near her.
