Character from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson
A lightspren who defied all precedent by bonding a Singer — communicating only through pulses of light and proving that the Nahel bond transcends species.
Timbre does not speak in words — she pulses with light in rhythms that Venli has learned to interpret. This makes her the most alien of the major bond-spren to outside observers, though Venli understands her clearly. She is brave to the point of recklessness: lightspren (Reachers in Shadesmar) as a culture opposed rebonding humans after the Recreance, and Timbre went further than any rebel by bonding not a human but a Singer — something unprecedented in recorded history. Her pulses carry determination, encouragement, and a stubborn refusal to accept that the world must remain broken. She chose Venli specifically because she saw potential for redemption in a woman who had caused catastrophe.
Manifests as a small, pulsing point of light — warm and golden, like a captured star. She communicates through rhythmic pulses of varying intensity and frequency rather than words. Her light brightens with excitement or determination and dims with concern. She stays close to Venli, often nestled near her gemheart.
