Turinad Sebarial

Character from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

An Alethi highprince who cultivates a lazy, hedonistic reputation while being surprisingly competent. Provides comic relief but proves a reliable ally to Dalinar when it matters most.

Highprince Turinad Sebarial is the most unlikely of Dalinar's allies — a man who openly admits to laziness, avoids battlefield glory, and seems more interested in commerce and comfort than honor. His warcamp is the most prosperous on the Shattered Plains, running like a small city with functioning markets and infrastructure. Beneath the buffoonery lies genuine competence. Sebarial is an excellent administrator who built his wealth through trade rather than war. When the Battle of Narak erupts, he fights alongside Dalinar without hesitation. His support of the Kholin coalition comes not from idealism but from pragmatic calculation — and perhaps a deeper sense of duty than he admits. His relationship with his mistress Palona provides much of his comic relief, their bickering a counterpoint to the epic drama around them.

Appearance

Portly Alethi man with a round, well-fed face and an air of permanent amusement. Dresses richly but carelessly, often seen lounging with wine. His eyes are sharp despite his indolent posture.
