Character from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson
Unkalaki (Horneater) member of Bridge Four. Enormous, joyful, and fiercely loyal. Serves as the crew's cook and heart. Can see spren that others cannot. Eventually wields a Shardbow.
Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor — Rock to his friends, because humans cannot pronounce his full name — is the spiritual heart of Bridge Four. An Unkalaki from the Horneater Peaks, he comes from a culture that reveres the spren and the Shardpools atop their mountains. His heritage grants him the rare ability to see spren in the Physical Realm that are normally invisible, including Syl before she fully manifested to Kaladin. Rock appointed himself Bridge Four's cook and elevated the simple act of sharing a meal into the ritual that first bound the crew together as brothers. Despite his warmth and humor, Rock is a formidable warrior who eventually picks up a Shardbow — a weapon requiring enormous strength — to save his companions, an act that carries profound consequences in Horneater culture, where only firstborn sons may take up weapons. His decision to wield the bow and his subsequent return to the Peaks for judgment reflect his deep honor. Rock proves that strength isn't just about fighting; it's about feeding people, making them laugh, and giving them a reason to live.
Massive and broad, towering over most Alethi with thick arms and a wide chest. He has reddish hair, a prominent Horneater brow ridge, and a broad, warm smile that rarely fades. His skin is lighter than the typical Alethi, with a ruddy complexion. He wears a Bridge Four uniform but is most often seen near a cook fire, stirring stew with a ladle that looks small in his enormous hands.
