Renarin Kholin

Character from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

A quiet, autistic-coded Truthwatcher bonded to a corrupted spren — seeing futures no one trusts while proving that courage has nothing to do with confidence.

Renarin speaks softly and seldom, choosing words with the care of someone who has been talked over his entire life. He processes the world differently — patterns and details that others miss leap out at him, while social cues that come naturally to Adolin remain opaque. His father's legacy as the Blackthorn made Renarin's quiet nature seem like weakness in Alethi warrior culture, a judgment he internalized deeply. Yet he walked onto a battlefield against a thunderclast with no combat training because people needed him. His bond with Glys is unique — a corrupted truthwatcher spren that grants future visions, making his Radiant abilities unpredictable and suspect. He sees possible futures he cannot always interpret, and others distrust his warnings. His relationship with Adolin is his anchor; his brother never once treated him as lesser.

Appearance

Lean Alethi young man, less physically imposing than his brother Adolin. Dark skin, black hair kept short. Wears spectacles — unusual for a lighteyes. Blue eyes that sometimes flash with red-tinged Stormlight from Glys's corruption. Moves with careful precision, often standing at the edges of rooms. His Shardplate glows with an unsettling reddish hue.
