Character from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson
Herdazian member of Bridge Four. One-armed, endlessly talkative, and irrepressibly optimistic. His humor masks genuine courage. Later healed by Stormlight, regrowing his arm. Becomes a Windrunner.
The Lopen — and he will insist on the 'The' — is Bridge Four's irrepressible Herdazian cousin. Missing one arm from before his time as a bridgeman, Lopen treats his disability as an endless source of one-armed jokes and refuses to let anyone pity him. His motor-mouthed humor and relentless positivity serve a real purpose in Bridge Four: he keeps morale alive when things are darkest. But beneath the comedy, Lopen is genuinely brave and deeply loyal. He became one of the first Windrunners after Kaladin, and Stormlight eventually regrew his missing arm — a moment of profound joy. Lopen has an enormous extended family of Herdazian cousins who he references constantly, and he takes his role as a Knight Radiant seriously even if he never stops joking about it.
A short, wiry Herdazian man with a wide grin and a missing left arm — at least until Stormlight regrows it. He has dark hair, brown skin with a slight Herdazian green tinge to his fingernails, and eyes that are always alight with the next joke. His Bridge Four uniform is worn casually, sleeves often rolled up. Even armed and in Shardplate, he looks like he's about to tell you something hilarious.
