Ivory

Character from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

An inkspren who broke his people's most sacred taboo by bonding a human — reserved, formal, and quietly defiant in his commitment to Jasnah.

Ivory speaks with careful formality, each word selected and placed like a tile in a mosaic. After the Recreance shattered the bonds between humans and spren, the inkspren forbade all future bonds — making Ivory a criminal among his own kind for choosing Jasnah. He does not regret this choice but carries the weight of exile. He and Jasnah share a temperament: logical, reserved, and unwilling to bend principle for comfort. He is the quietest of the major bond-spren, preferring to observe and calculate rather than chatter. His courage is understated — he risked everything for a bond he believed was right.

Appearance

In the Physical Realm, appears as a small figure made of black ink, humanoid but with sharp, geometric features. His form is crisp and well-defined, reflecting the inkspren's affinity for logic and precision. In Shadesmar, appears as a tall figure with blue-black skin and angular features, dressed formally.
