Aesudan Kholin

Character from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

Elhokar's wife and queen of Alethkar. Left to govern Kholinar, she was corrupted by the Unmade Ashertmarn and descended into hedonistic madness while the city fell around her.

Aesudan Kholin was queen of Alethkar, left to govern Kholinar when Elhokar departed for the Shattered Plains. In her husband's absence, she was corrupted by the Unmade Ashertmarn — the Heart of the Revel — descending into a state of perpetual hedonistic madness. While Kholinar was besieged by Singers and its people starved, Aesudan hosted endless feasts and revels in the palace, her court lost in supernatural excess. When Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin arrived to liberate the city, they found a queen beyond reason, consumed by the Unmade's influence. Her fall represents the insidious nature of the Unmade — corrupting through pleasure rather than force.

Appearance

A beautiful Alethi woman with dark hair, refined features, and the elegant bearing of Alethi nobility. In her corruption, her appearance became unsettling — too-bright eyes, a feverish flush to her skin, and a manic energy as she hosted endless feasts in the palace while Kholinar burned outside its walls.
