Cody

Character from Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson

The Reckoners' sniper — a Southern boy who insists he's Scottish, tells the tallest tales in three states, and can put a bullet through an Epic's weakness at four hundred yards.

Cody is the team's comic relief, and he's aware of it, and he doesn't care. He claims Scottish heritage he cannot prove, invents elaborate Scottish customs ('it's a Highland tradition to whistle before shooting'), and insists that 'wee daemons' power mobile phones. He speaks with a drawl that occasionally attempts a brogue and lands somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic. He is also an excellent sniper, a competent driver, and the kind of teammate who keeps morale up in situations where morale has no business existing. His stories are ridiculous. His aim is not. The Reckoners tolerate the former because of the latter.

Appearance

Wiry, early forties, often in camouflage. Southern American accent that he inexplicably peppers with Scottish slang. His face is weathered and usually grinning at something only he finds funny. Carries a rifle like an extension of his arm.
