Ancient Seed Artifact

Item from Stardew Valley by ConcernedApe (Eric Barone)

A seed from a plant that went extinct thousands of years ago — donate it to the museum, and Gunther gives you a viable version to grow the most profitable crop in the game.

The Ancient Seed artifact is found by digging, fishing, or from artifact troves. Donating the first one to the museum gives the farmer a plantable ancient seed packet and the crafting recipe to make more from ancient seed artifacts. The Ancient Fruit it grows takes 28 days and then produces every 7 days — making it the game's most profitable crop when processed into wine in kegs. The seed represents the game's deeper timeline — the valley had civilizations before Pelican Town, and their agriculture was different. Growing an extinct plant back to life is quietly one of the most magical things the farmer does, even without any actual magic involved.

Appearance

A dark, dried seed preserved in what looks like amber or resin. Ancient, impossibly old, but still somehow viable once processed by Gunther. The grown plant is tall with a strange, otherworldly fruit.
