Pierre runs the general store, the town's commercial heart and JojaMart's direct competitor. He sells seeds, supplies, and groceries, and his livelihood depends on the farmer's patronage. He's not the most likable guy — he can be self-serving, he takes credit for the farmer's high-quality produce, and his competitive streak with Morris at Joja can get petty. But Pierre's also genuinely fighting for his family's survival. If JojaMart wins, he loses everything. His relationship with Caroline is strained by financial stress, and his controlling tendencies with Abigail stem from fear, not malice. He's the small-town businessman archetype — flawed, stubborn, proud, and more sympathetic than he first appears.
