Pam is one of the game's most uncomfortable truths: a parent who loves her child but can't stop hurting her. She drinks too much, she's loud, she's sometimes embarrassing. She lost her bus driving job when the bus broke down and spent years on the couch watching TV and drinking. But Pam isn't a villain. She's a woman who got stuck and doesn't know how to get unstuck. When the bus gets repaired, she's genuinely happy to drive again — she needs purpose as much as anyone. Her relationship with Penny is the game's most complex parent-child dynamic: love tangled with resentment, caretaking flowing the wrong direction.
