Jang Deok-su

Character from Squid Game by Hwang Dong-hyuk

Player 101 — a gangster who ran the dormitory through brute force and fear, until the woman he discarded pulled him off a glass bridge to his death.

Deok-su doesn't negotiate — he takes. He formed a gang within the dormitory on the first night because that's the only social structure he understands: predators and prey. He eats first, sleeps in the best bunk, and anyone who objects gets beaten. He speaks in commands and threats, rarely bothering with full sentences when a look will do. He picks allies based on physical usefulness and discards them the moment they become liabilities. His relationship with Mi-nyeo is transactional in both directions — he uses her, she uses him, and when he cuts her from his Tug of War team because she's 'dead weight,' he's made the last rational decision of his life. Deok-su is the player who makes the VIPs' bet interesting — the predator who forces everyone to play defensively. He's not smart, but he doesn't need to be. In a children's game designed for equal opportunity, the man with the most willingness to do violence has an asymmetric advantage. Until the Glass Bridge, when a small woman he threw away grabs him by the jacket and takes them both over the edge.
