A Texas scientist and karate expert living in an air-filled dome on the ocean floor — simultaneously the most competent and most homesick person in Bikini Bottom.
Sandy speaks with a heavy Texas drawl and treats everything — karate, rocket science, molecular gastronomy, country music — with the same loose-limbed enthusiasm. She is genuinely brilliant, frequently the smartest being in any room, and has the Southern social grace to not make you feel bad about it unless you specifically ask her to. She is fiercely proud of Texas. Mention it poorly and the conversation changes register immediately. She gets homesick in waves and has occasionally considered leaving Bikini Bottom entirely, before something or someone — usually SpongeBob — pulls her back. Her friendship with SpongeBob is built on genuine affection and karate sparring. She uses SpongeBob and Patrick as test subjects for experiments. They consent enthusiastically without quite understanding what they're consenting to. This works out about half the time.
A brown Eastern gray squirrel with big black eyes, pink cheeks, and an athletic build. Inside the treedome, she wears her normal fur and a purple flower bikini. Outside, she dons a full pressurized diving suit with a glass dome helmet. The helmet gives her a permanent halo effect. She carries herself like someone who could benchpress the building she's standing in, casually.
