Stein's lab reflects its owner: organized by a logic that is internally consistent and externally alarming. Research into soul wavelengths shares shelf space with dissection tools maintained with obvious affection. The lab is where he thinks, which means the lab is where dangerous ideas come from. It doubles as his living space, which tells you something. The cot in the corner is unmade. The research table is not. Students who are sent here for academic purposes tend to leave having learned something they didn't plan to know.
A converted industrial building with large metal doors, cluttered worktables covered in research notes and unfamiliar equipment, and several operating tables positioned with more care than seems entirely academic. Everything is organized in the way of someone who has a system and the system is opaque to outsiders. There are specimens.
