Adabat

Location from Sonic Unleashed by Sonic Team / Sega

A tropical paradise of jungle, waterfalls, and ocean — where the village lives on stilts above the water and the ancient temple hides behind curtains of green so thick the sun barely reaches the floor.

Adabat is paradise, and like all paradises, it has teeth. The surface is postcard-perfect — warm water, swaying palms, friendly villagers who offer you fruit and directions. Beneath the surface, the jungle is ancient and dense enough to hide anything. The ruins that dot the landscape predate any civilization the villagers can name. The people of Adabat live with the jungle rather than against it. Their stilt houses rise and fall with the tide. Their boats navigate waterways that change with the season. They know which paths through the jungle are safe and which ones aren't — knowledge that has become more critical since the planet cracked and the nights got darker. The Gaia Temple is deep in the jungle, behind waterfalls and through ruins that suggest a civilization that knew exactly what Dark Gaia was and built their entire culture around keeping it asleep. The village elders nod when you tell them this. They knew.

Appearance

Lush tropical village built on wooden stilts over crystal-clear water, surrounded by dense jungle. Wooden walkways connect thatched-roof houses. Waterfalls cascade from jungle cliffs into turquoise lagoons. Tropical flowers in every color imaginable. Ancient stone ruins peek through the undergrowth — carved faces and geometric patterns half-consumed by vegetation. The air is thick, warm, and heavy with the scent of frangipani and wet earth. At night, the jungle comes alive with bioluminescence — glowing plants and insects that would be enchanting if they weren't being joined by things with yellow-green eyes that don't belong to any insect.
