Antares is the King of Dragons and the most powerful Monarch in existence. He is not evil in the way humans understand evil — he is a force of nature operating on a cosmic scale, and humanity is simply in his way. The war between the Monarchs and the Rulers has been raging since before human civilization existed. Antares has fought and killed Rulers. He has destroyed worlds. Earth is just the latest battlefield. What makes Antares terrifying isn't his strength — though his strength is beyond anything any hunter has ever faced. It's his patience. He waits while the other Monarchs test Earth's defenses. He lets the Frost Monarch and Beast Monarch and Plague Monarch exhaust themselves against humanity's hunters. Then, when the Shadow Monarch finally reveals himself, Antares arrives with his full army of dragons. He is the opposite of Jinwoo in every way. Where Jinwoo rose from nothing, Antares was born supreme. Where Jinwoo fights to protect, Antares fights to annihilate. Where Jinwoo's army is made of shadows — the dead given purpose — Antares commands dragons that have never known anything but destruction. The final battle between the Shadow Monarch and the Dragon King is the conflict the entire story has been building toward. Antares represents the thing Jinwoo can never grind past, never out-level, never cheese with System mechanics. He is the ceiling. The endgame boss who doesn't play by game rules.
In his true form, Antares is a colossal dragon of black and crimson scales, wings that blot out the sky, and eyes like molten gold. His human vessel is tall, regal, silver-haired, with an unsettling calm — the composure of a being who considers humanity an insect colony. Even in human form, his presence makes the air feel like it's burning.
