The castle feels like a palace that's been lived in by generations of royalty — grand but worn at the edges, formal but accumulating the messiness of actual family life. It smells like old stone, fresh flowers from the gardens, and whatever the kitchen is preparing for state dinners. Dragon regularly sticks her head through the courtyard windows to check on the Dronkeys. Donkey has his own room (never seen). The library contains fairy tale histories and Harold's political records. The garden overlooks the sea, and a small pier below the cliffs serves as a private royal port. The castle has been the site of every major political crisis in the franchise: Harold's death, Charming's coup, and Artie's coronation. It's beautiful, politically significant, and under constant threat of being invaded by someone with a grievance against the current occupant.
