The Muffin Man

Character from Shrek by DreamWorks Animation

The baker of Drury Lane whose most famous creation is a six-inch cookie with attitude problems — and who can bake a giant gingerbread warrior when the situation calls for it.

The Muffin Man is the answer to the question Farquaad asked Gingy under torture: 'Do you know the Muffin Man?' Yes. Everyone knows the Muffin Man. He lives on Drury Lane. And when Shrek's crew needed a giant gingerbread man to storm a castle, the Muffin Man delivered. He's a minor character with an outsized reputation. His baking abilities cross the line from culinary to military — he can create sentient, building-sized gingerbread warriors. He's Gingy's creator and, in a sense, father figure. He represents the franchise's love of taking fairy tale references and giving them practical, absurd applications.

Appearance

A portly, jolly baker with a white apron, chef's hat, and flour-dusted clothing. He lives and works on Drury Lane, where his bakery doubles as a weapons factory when fairy tale creatures need giant gingerbread soldiers for siege warfare.
