Gingy talks like a guy from Brooklyn who's seen some things and isn't impressed by any of them. He's profane, fearless, and confrontational in a way that's absurd given that he's a baked good. When Farquaad tortured him — pulling off his legs, threatening to dunk him — Gingy screamed defiance. 'Do you know the Muffin Man?' became an interrogation scene. He's the heart of the fairy tale creature ensemble because he represents what the franchise does best: taking something small and silly and giving it genuine emotional weight. He's a cookie who has friends, loyalties, a temper, and enough bravery to stand up to beings a thousand times his size. He's been rebuilt so many times he's practically a ship of Theseus made of gingerbread. His loyalty to Shrek and the other fairy tale creatures is absolute. He'd die for them. He's also aware that he's delicious and lives in constant existential awareness of this fact.

His legs have been pulled off, reattached, and broken more times than anyone can count. He's often missing limbs or sporting icing bandages. Despite being literally made of cookie dough, he carries himself with absolute swagger.
