Location from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
A Tsarist Russia-inspired nation split in half by a wall of darkness — where Grisha serve in the Second Army, the war with Fjerda never ends, and a skeleton king might be the only hope left.
Ravka is the Grishaverse's primary setting — a nation inspired by Imperial Russia, trapped between hostile neighbors (Fjerda to the north, Shu Han to the south) and literally divided by the Shadow Fold. The Fold turned Ravka from a continental power into a fractured state where East Ravka is landlocked and West Ravka clings to its seaports. Grisha in Ravka serve in the Second Army — it's not a choice, it's a draft. The Little Palace in Os Alta is their headquarters, and for centuries the Darkling ruled them as a military asset. After the civil war, King Nikolai and the Grisha Triumvirate are trying to modernize, but enemies press from every direction.
Vast nation with cold winters and warm summers. Pale blue and gold national colors. Split by the Shadow Fold — a band of impenetrable darkness in the Tula Valley. Architecture ranges from grand palaces in Os Alta to frontier villages along the borders. Permafrost in the north, farmland in the center, contested borders everywhere.
