Location from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Ravka's Dream City — divided between the glittering inner city of palaces and the impoverished outer ring where most people actually live.
Os Alta is Ravka's capital — a city of stark contrasts. The inner city (Gersky Prospect) contains the Grand Palace (royal seat), the Little Palace (Second Army headquarters), and the kind of wealth that makes the outer ring's poverty feel deliberate. The ditch separating inner from outer is the Grishaverse's least subtle metaphor. The Apparat's underground tunnel network runs beneath the city, providing secret movement for his followers.
Nicknamed 'the Dream City.' Outer ring: poor, peasant-inhabited, crowded. Inner city: grand boulevards, fountains, the Grand Palace and Little Palace. Separated by a ditch — physical metaphor for class division.
