Sea Whip's Fetter

Item from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

The second Morozova amplifier — seven golden scales from a sea serpent, fused around Alina's wrist, completing her path to power that would destroy the Fold.

The Rusalye (sea whip) was a legendary sea serpent — a white creature with iridescent scales, seven golden scales on its forehead, translucent winglike fins, and red eyes. In folklore, it was a cursed dragon prince. Alina killed it and the Fabrikator Irina fused its seven golden scales around Alina's wrist. With both the collar and the fetter, Alina's power became overwhelming — described as a creature of infinite fire. The fetter broke apart after the final battle alongside the collar.

Appearance

Seven golden scales arranged in an overlapping row around the wrist. Fused without clasp — like the collar, it becomes part of the wearer. Combined with the collar, it gave Alina power described as 'an animal, a creature of infinite fire.'
