Morozova's Stag

Item from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

A legendary white stag — the first of Ilya Morozova's amplifiers, hunted by Mal's tracking gift and killed by the Darkling to forge the collar that bound Alina.

Morozova's Stag was the first of three amplifiers created by the legendary Fabrikator Ilya Morozova. It was a creature of myth — appearing only at twilight, featuring in children's stories as a wish-granter. Mal tracked it using his supernatural instincts (his amplifier nature), and the Darkling killed it, having David forge the antlers into Morozova's Collar. The stag's death set the trilogy's central conflict in motion: Alina bound to the Darkling's will through the collar, fighting to break free.
