Item from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
The Grisha uniform — color-coded robes that identify order, subtype, and rank at a glance, with combat variants made of bulletproof corecloth.
The kefta is more than a uniform — it's an identity. Every Grisha in the Second Army wears one, and the color system means you can identify someone's abilities, order, and rank from across a room. Summer versions are silk, winter versions are wool, and combat versions are corecloth — a Fabrikator-made material that's bulletproof. The Darkling's black kefta marked him as unique. Alina's gold embroidery marked her as a weapon. The kefta system is the visual language of Ravka's Grisha culture.
Long, nearly floor-length robes with hidden buttons, embroidered cuffs and hems, fur collar. Worn over white shirt with sash and breeches. Colors: Red = Corporalki, Blue = Etherealki, Purple = Materialki, Black = Darkling only. Embroidery color identifies subtype (silver = Squaller, red = Inferni, gray = Durast, etc.).
