Grisha Steel

Item from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

A special metal invented by Ilya Morozova — used in weapons, bulletproof corecloth, and the horrifying khergud program that fuses metal to human bone.

Grisha steel was invented by Ilya Morozova and can only be created by Fabrikators. It is the material basis for corecloth (bulletproof kefta fabric), Grisha weapons, and — most horrifyingly — the Shu Han khergud program, which fuses Grisha steel and ruthenium directly to human bone, creating metal-augmented soldiers from unwilling Grisha subjects.

Appearance

Metal with unique properties created by Fabrikator manipulation at the molecular level. Used in blades, armor components, and the corecloth fabric.
