Jesper came to Ketterdam from Novyi Zem to attend the university and immediately fell into gambling, which is his way of feeding the restless energy that is actually unacknowledged Grisha ability. He is a Fabrikator (Durast) who has been suppressing his powers his entire life — his mother was a Grisha who died from the sickness that comes from not using her abilities, and Jesper's father raised him to hide what he is. His sharpshooting is supernaturally accurate because he's unconsciously using his Fabrikator abilities to guide bullets. Once he acknowledges what he is, his accuracy becomes intentional rather than instinctive, and he can manipulate any material he touches. He is the crew's heart — the one who cracks jokes during heists, who loves too easily and trusts too much, who gambles because stillness feels like death. His relationship with Wylan starts as teasing and becomes the series' gentlest love story.
Tall, dark-skinned Zemeni with gray eyes — his mother's eyes. Long-limbed, restless, always in motion. Twin pearl-handled revolvers are his signature. Dresses flashily by Barrel standards — he can't resist spending money he doesn't have on things that look good.
