Character from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Fjerda's holy soldiers — witch hunters who train with wolves, swear oaths to Djel, and burn Grisha on pyres in the name of divine purity.
The drüskelle are Fjerda's answer to the Grisha 'threat' — young men trained from childhood to hunt, capture, and kill Grisha. Their oath ('Jer molle pe oonet' — I have been made to protect you) frames their violence as holy duty. They train at the Ice Court with white battle wolves, undergo initiation at Hringkalla, and view themselves as protectors of the natural order. Under Jarl Brum, they doubled in size, developed new Grisha-detection techniques, and pushed for the weaponization of jurda parem. Matthias Helvar was once their rising star before Nina changed everything. The drüskelle represent the Grishaverse's exploration of how religious conviction becomes institutional violence.
Black and silver uniforms (gray during training). Cannot grow beards until granted officer status. Train with white wolves (isenulf) at the Ice Court. Their presence radiates cold religious conviction.
