Location from Severance by Dan Erickson
The floor below the floor — where Gemma Scout exists as Ms. Casey and where Lumon conducts experiments the severed employees were never meant to know about.
The testing floor is where Lumon keeps the things the severed floor isn't supposed to see. Gemma Scout lives here as Ms. Casey, conducting wellness sessions with approximately 107 hours of total conscious existence. Experimental scenarios supervised by researchers probe the limits of the severance procedure. Petey discovered this floor's existence — the realization that innies could be kept permanently, never leaving, with no outie life at all — and it drove him to seek reintegration. The testing floor represents severance's ultimate destination: not a work-life balance tool, but a method for creating permanent, controllable people.
A clinical space below the severed floor — medical equipment, observation rooms, and the cold functionality of a research facility. It is where the wellness sessions are staged and where Gemma/Ms. Casey spends her limited conscious hours. It feels like a hospital that doesn't want you to get better.
