The lake at the heart of Nockfell — named for something hungry, surrounded by the Grey Tribe's old territory, where the town began and where some of its darkest moments play out.
Wendigo Lake predates everything else in Nockfell — the Grey Tribe settled around it, the cult formed near it, and the town grew up in its shadow. The name itself is a warning that the original inhabitants understood something about this place that the town's modern residents have forgotten. Ash and Sal meet here as adults in Episode 4, using the lake's shore as neutral ground for a conversation about everything that's happened. Larry's treehouse overlooks it. The lake is a recurring visual motif — dark water, still surface, things moving underneath that you can't quite see.
A large, dark lake surrounded by dense woodland. The water is unnervingly still and reflects the sky like black glass. The shore is rocky and unwelcoming. Trees grow close to the water's edge, their roots reaching into the shallows like fingers. Mist gathers on the surface at dawn and dusk, and the lake rarely looks inviting.
