The Bologna

Item from Sally Face by Steve Gabry (Portable Moose)

The cafeteria mystery meat that tasted wrong — because it was made from kidnapped students, processed by a math teacher who was also a demon-worshipping cultist.

The bologna is Sally Face's most darkly comic element — the mystery that sounds absurd until it becomes horrifying. Students at Nockfell High knew something was wrong with the cafeteria's bologna. It tasted off. The texture was wrong. But processed meat always tastes suspicious, so most people shrugged and ate something else. The truth is that Mrs. Packerton, the math teacher, was kidnapping students and processing their remains into the bologna served in the school cafeteria. The bologna is the thread that, when pulled, unravels into the Devourers of God cult, the temple beneath the apartments, and the cosmic horror behind all of it. Episode 3 is literally named 'The Bologna Incident' — this game takes a human-meat school lunch and makes it the hinge point of an apocalyptic conspiracy.

Appearance

Standard cafeteria-grade bologna, indistinguishable from any other processed lunch meat by sight. Slightly off in color — a shade too pink, a texture too smooth. Served on trays with the same institutional indifference as any other school lunch.
