Mrs. Gibson

Character from Sally Face by Steve Gabry (Portable Moose)

The elderly tenant in Room 101 — a grumpy, cat-loving recluse whose pet rabbit's accidental death set off a chain of events that drove Jim Johnson to leave his family.

Mrs. Gibson is a curmudgeon whose significance extends beyond her personality. Her pet rabbit was accidentally killed by young Larry's firecrackers, and the guilt from this event was the catalyst for Jim Johnson leaving the family — he left the next day to sabotage the cult. She has no idea her dead rabbit changed the course of the story. She represents the mundane cruelty and loneliness of apartment living — the neighbor who complains about noise and keeps to herself, unaware that the building's true problems are far worse than loud children.

Appearance

A small, elderly woman with a sharp tongue and sharper eyes. Perpetually suspicious of her neighbors, especially children. Dresses in layers of old housedresses and keeps her apartment dim.
