Character from Sally Face by Steve Gabry (Portable Moose)
A grieving father trying to start over — moved his scarred son to a new town and a new apartment, not knowing he'd chosen the one building in America sitting on top of a demon's nest.
Henry is a quiet, steady presence who does his best to provide normalcy for Sal in the aftermath of Diane's death. He doesn't talk about what happened much — not because he doesn't care, but because he doesn't know how. He's the kind of father who shows love through making sure dinner's on the table and the rent is paid, even when he can barely hold himself together. He eventually marries Lisa Johnson, Larry's mother, binding the two boys as stepbrothers. It's a practical, gentle union between two people who understand loss. Henry isn't equipped to deal with the supernatural horrors his son is uncovering, but he never stops being present, which is its own kind of bravery.
Middle-aged with a receding hairline, tired eyes, and the stooped posture of a man carrying more weight than his frame was built for. Wears simple, rumpled clothing — button-down shirts that have seen too many washes. His face shows the years of grief clearly, but his eyes are kind.
