Character from Sally Face by Steve Gabry (Portable Moose)
The tenant in Room 403 who committed the murder that started everything — the first thread Sal pulled, not knowing it would unravel into a conspiracy that consumed the entire building.
Charley is the Episode 1 mystery — the first real investigation Sal and Larry undertake together. He committed a murder in his apartment, and Sal's detective work (with Larry's help) uncovers the evidence. Charley is significant not for who he is but for what his crime catalyzes: it's the first sign that something is deeply wrong in Addison Apartments, and it bonds Sal and Larry as investigative partners. Whether Charley was influenced by the building's supernatural corruption or acted independently is left somewhat ambiguous — but the pattern of violence in the building suggests the former.
A disheveled, anxious-looking man with the restless energy of someone hiding something. Resident of one of the upper-floor apartments. Nothing about him reads as dangerous at first glance — he reads as pathetic, which is almost worse.
