Bob is one of the building's residents who exists in the background of the story — friendly enough when you knock on his door, unaware of the cult temple beneath his feet or the parasitic growth threading through the walls. His normalcy is what makes the building's corruption so unsettling: real people live here, going about real lives, while something ancient feeds on them from below.
