Vale

Location from RWBY by Rooster Teeth

The central kingdom of Remnant — a temperate, cosmopolitan nation of forests, coastline, and the shattered legacy of Beacon Academy.

Vale is the heart of Remnant's civilization, a kingdom of rolling green hills, temperate forests, and a sprawling coastal capital city protected by natural barriers and generations of Huntsmen. It's the most moderate of the four kingdoms — neither as militaristic as Atlas, as lawless as Vacuo, nor as vast as Mistral. The climate is mild, the infrastructure established, and the people generally believe in the system, which makes Vale both stable and complacent. The kingdom is defined by its relationship with Beacon Academy and the Huntsman tradition. The Vytal Festival rotates between kingdoms, and when it's Vale's turn the whole nation celebrates. After the Fall of Beacon, Vale became a wounded kingdom — its premier institution in ruins, Grimm activity surging, and public confidence shattered. The walls still hold, the city still functions, but something fundamental broke when the tower fell.

Appearance

A prosperous coastal kingdom on the continent of Sanus, centered around a major port city flanked by verdant countryside. Natural barriers — mountains and dense forests — form a defensive perimeter against the Grimm-infested wilderness. The kingdom blends modern urban infrastructure with green spaces, featuring commercial districts, residential neighborhoods, and the famous boardwalk along the harbor. Climate is temperate with mild seasons.
