Beacon Academy sits on the cliffs above Vale, a sprawl of elegant towers, arched walkways, and courtyards that once buzzed with students training to fight the darkness. The main amphitheater hosted sparring matches, the dining hall served questionable food to four-person teams who became surrogate families, and the Emerald Forest at its border served as the most dangerous orientation exercise in education. The CCT tower linked the campus — and by extension the kingdom — to the global communications network. Then it fell. Cinder's conspiracy unleashed Grimm during the Vytal Festival, the Wyvern perched atop the tower, and students died in hallways they'd walked to class that morning. Now Beacon is a ruin. The Wyvern sits frozen on the tower, petrified by Ruby's silver eyes but still radiating enough negativity to keep Grimm swarming. The vaults beneath hold the Relic of Choice. The grounds are a graveyard of what could have been.

The campus features a central courtyard, a towering central spire (Beacon Tower), Gothic-inspired stone buildings with green roofing, dormitory wings, a vast amphitheater, training arenas, and manicured grounds. The Emerald Forest stretches below the cliffs, used for initiation trials. Cross Continental Transmit Tower rises from the central tower.
