Dust is Remnant's everything. A naturally occurring energy source found in crystal and powder form, it comes in elemental varieties — red (fire), blue (ice), yellow (lightning), white (wind), green (earth), black (gravity), cyan (hard light) — and combinations thereof. It's mined from deposits across all four kingdoms, refined into usable forms, and integrated into every layer of civilization: ammunition, vehicle fuel, climate control, architecture, clothing, medicine, and the weapons that keep the Grimm from ending everything. The Schnee Dust Company controls the largest mining operations and refining infrastructure, giving Jacques Schnee disproportionate power over the global economy. Dust is loaded into weapons as ammunition or channeled through a user's Aura for direct elemental manipulation — Weiss's Myrtenaster is the gold standard of Dust application. It doesn't function outside Remnant's atmosphere, for reasons nobody understands. The recent wave of Dust theft in Vale isn't random crime — it's strategic stockpiling for a war most people don't know is coming.
Naturally occurring crystalline energy propellant found throughout Remnant — raw Dust appears as colorful crystals (red for fire, blue for ice/water, yellow for lightning, green for wind) that can be refined into powder, woven into clothing, loaded into weapons, or used in industrial applications. Unrefined crystals glow faintly and are volatile — a sneeze can trigger an explosion. The Schnee Dust Company controls the majority of global Dust mining and distribution.
