A disgraced Atlas scientist who faked his death and joined Salem, Watts is a tech genius whose wounded ego and aristocratic contempt make him the faction's most intellectually dangerous member.
Watts is the smartest person in every room he enters and will make certain you know it. His ego is not bravado — he is genuinely one of the most brilliant technologists Remnant has produced, architect of much of Atlas's technological infrastructure. He defected to Salem not out of ideology but because Atlas chose Ironwood's pet scientist Pietro over him, and Watts would rather burn the kingdom down than accept being second place. He is contemptuous of everyone — Salem's other subordinates are thugs, Ironwood is a simpleton in a uniform, Cinder is an ambitious child. He cooperates with the faction because Salem values his skills and because her cause offers the only stage grand enough for his intellect. His hacking of Atlas's entire security network, election systems, and military robots was accomplished largely out of spite. His death is fitting — trapped in a burning room by Cinder, who he had just finished berating for her incompetence. He spent his final moments trying to hack his way out, the genius unable to accept a problem he could not solve with technology.
Middle-aged and meticulously groomed with a thin grey mustache, slicked-back grey hair, and narrow eyes that evaluate everything like a lab specimen. Wears a grey dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark brown suspenders, a yellow-gold tie, and brown dress pants — the look of an academic who considers armor beneath him. His weapon is a revolver-like device on his right hand and an array of hard-light rings on his fingers that interface with any computer system. No combat gear because he considers himself above physical confrontation.
