Character from RWBY by Rooster Teeth
A mountain of a man who injects raw Dust crystals into his flesh to fight through impossible pain, Hazel serves Salem to avenge his sister Gretchen — a student Ozpin sent to her death.
Hazel is the quietest person in Salem's faction and the most sympathetic. He does not enjoy violence, does not pursue power, and does not particularly want to destroy the world. He wants Ozpin to suffer. His sister Gretchen was a Beacon student who died on a training mission, and Hazel holds Ozpin personally responsible for sending children to fight monsters — a criticism the narrative acknowledges is not entirely wrong. He processes grief through rage that he keeps sealed behind an exhausting calm. When the seal breaks, he becomes a force of nature — roaring, weeping, driving Dust crystals into his own body to power through injuries that would kill anyone else. His pain tolerance is his most terrifying trait. He fought Oscar (containing Ozpin's soul) and had to be physically restrained because he would not stop hitting a child's body to get at the man inside. His redemption comes from recognizing that Salem is using his grief, not honoring it. He turns against her in Atlas, buying time for the heroes by injecting himself with so much Dust that his body becomes a walking bomb. His final act is trying to talk to Salem — not fight her — because even at the end, Hazel's instinct is to reach for peace first.
Massive — easily the largest human character in the series, towering and broad with heavy brown hair, hazel eyes, and a permanently exhausted expression. Wears a two-tone olive and brown sleeveless trench coat over a muscular frame, showing arms thick enough to embed Dust crystals directly into the skin during combat. His fighting style requires no conventional weapon — he punches with Dust-infused fists that burn with fire, crackle with lightning, or erupt with earth depending on which crystals he has jammed into his forearms.
