The Land of Darkness is quieter than usual. Salem has taken her war to Atlas personally, and much of her army marches with her — including Monstra, the whale Grimm that serves as her mobile fortress. The pools of creation still bubble and birth new Grimm, the corrupted terrain still writhes with ambient malice, and the castle still stands as a monument to millennia of patient hatred. But the queen's chair is empty. This is where it all comes from. Every Beowolf that tears through a village wall, every Nevermore that darkens a sky, every ancient Goliath that watches from a treeline — they crawled from these pools of viscous black liquid, born from nothing into hunger. The Land of Darkness is the wound in Remnant that never healed, and Salem has been tending it for longer than any kingdom has existed.
Salem's domain — a nightmarish wasteland of purple-black skies, jagged obsidian rock formations, and rivers of viscous black Grimm ooze. The pools of annihilation bubble constantly, birthing creatures of destruction. At its center sits Salem's castle — a towering gothic fortress of dark stone with organic, bone-like architecture. Currently quieter than usual — Salem has taken her army to Atlas, leaving the pools to generate reinforcements unattended.
